Helsinki Architectural Delights

Eliel Saarinen's Central Station, Alvar Aalto's Studio, Timo & Tuomo Suomalainen's Temppeliaukio Church, K2S Architects' Kampii Chapel and Anttinen Oiva Architects' University Library - just some of the great architecture Brian & Kevin enjoyed on a recent visit to Helsinki.

"A Victorian cathedral of ironwork" ~ Pevsner

This week BOTA paid a visit to Crossness Pumping Station - a spectacular piece of Victorian engineering conceived by Sir Joseph Bazalgette as part of his wider London sewerage system constructed in the 1860's. Thanks to the volunteer team at Crossness for a fascinating tour and the tea and biscuits!

A House for Essex...
